La Bottega del Legno performs existing wood windows renovation works. After a site survey, our representatives will suggest the most suitable solutions to your needs. The most common operations that are done on the old windows are:
- Installation of thermal glass, shatter-proof, low emission, high noise reduction, certificates;
- Installation of new rubber fittings;
- Accurate sanding, completely removing the layer of paint;
- Painting with water-based products, with spot color or equal to other existing windows
In the windows renovation process we don’t use chemicals that could damage the wood, works are carried out by hand and with the use of environmentally friendly products.
Windows renovation process:
- Realize the place to put the new thermal glass, which is sealed with silicone.
- Creation of a new frame glazing bead that is branded with tacks (or fixed with screws).
- To put the gasket on an old window incision is made and then the new rubber fitting is mounted, also available in various colors, that suit the color of a painted window
- The sanding is done in order to completely remove the old finish (polishing or sanding). Is disassembled the drip pan (which can also be replaced, if necessary), the window is sanded on both sides, or only on the ruined one.
- If is not possible to sand the window using the sander, the window is recovered to wood using a hand scraper.
- Before polishing, it is mounted the gutter and proceed to the finish, with water-based products, respecting the environment. The procedure can be done by brush or spray.
- It’s possible to replace the old hardware, or paint the existing one.
- The window is delivered, mounted and hardware is recorded to make it work better.
- The window frames are counted and painted directly on the spot, without the need to dismantle.
If your old window is completely throwaway and can not be restored, we are able to install the new window frame on the existing one, WITHOUT bricklayer needs.
